4/16/07- Menudo is coming back. I know, you are excited and can wait…(insert drum beat here).
MTV is doing their reality show duty and creating an “American Idol” style show to revive the Puerto Rican boy band Menudo machine. Wonder if they’re trying bring in some Hispanics viewers or anything?
Anyways, so they held auditions in Miami this past Saturday.
Menudo became a worldwide phenomena in the 80’s, but in the 90’s hit some speed bumps. These included drug involvement by certain members, contractual disagreements, pirated music issues, suspected embezzlement issues by management, and sexual harassment allegations between Menudo and Menudo management. In 2003, the band disbanded.
MTV’s oh-so original title for the new reality show is: “Road to Menudo”. 12 finalists will compete for slots in the final Menudo band.
