Jovanny Venegas Stars In Novela Educativa: Premiering At East LA College Reception To Inspire Latino Students

Actor, host, producer Jovanny Venegas stars in the latest Novela EducativaCultivando Raíces which is set to premiere on Thursday November 14, 2013 at East Los Angeles College.
The film will premiere during the schools Mixing Arts & Science Technology As A Media Art program, sponsored by the US Department of Education, ELAC, Hispanic Heritage Foundation, LOFT and MESA.
The film is set to inspire and educate Latino students to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) career fields as ELAC reported that those fields in the past ten years have grown at three times the pace of non-STEM jobs, and are projected to continue growing at this pace through the next decade. Meanwhile the college also reported that the field is under-represented by the Hispanic, African American, and women populations.
In the film Jovanny portrays the role of Ozziel "Ozzie" Garcia, a ELAC student pursuing an Engineering degree struggling to convince his father the importance of a college education. In the film Ozzie's father is very reluctant to him attending college, and rather have his son continue working at his construction company.
egarding the participation in his second Novela Educativa Jovanny said "I'm very honored to be part of a film that will inspire students to pursue careers that are underrepresented by minorities. Being a college graduate I know the importance of an education as it has prepared me for many aspects in my entertainment career along with life in general."
At the reception the Keynote speaker will be Scott Stokdyk who is an Academy Award-winner for Best Achievement in Visual Effects for his ground-breaking work on SPIDER-MAN 2 and three-time Oscar nominee, is a visual effects supervisor at Sony Pictures Imageworks who recently completed supervising the visual effects on Disney’s OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL.
Commissioner for the Los Angeles Fire and Police Pensions, and the Chairman of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation and founder of its Leaders On Fast Track (LOFT) Innovation initiative to increase the proportion of under-represented minorities in the technology sector and innovation fields Emanuel Pleitez is the guest speaker.
Jovanny Venegas, Ariana Sanchez and other Cultivando Raíces actors are set to be in attendance at the event which is free and open to the public, with a reception following immediately.

Jovanny's current work includes playing the club DJ in the Kevin Hart comedy About Last Night (2014). He Co-stars in the Diego Luna supported film The Good Kind (2014). Portraying a record label intern on the FUSE TV series The Hustle. Also working alongside acclaimed Mexican actress Kate Del Castillo in the Jules Stewart directed (Twilight Star Kristen Stewart's mom) film K-11. And staying busy with his at-risk student scholarship program The Look At Me Now Foundation.
