Tempe, AZ - The Mexican celebration of the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) has its origins in Pre-Colombian times. The Aztecs conceived of death as part of one cycle that was constant like the seasons of nature. This year the Calaca Cultural Center will incorporate individual, community and humanistic historical landmarks to celebrate Dia de los Muertos. This year¹s theme is ³Notes from the Past,² a historical remembrance and use of symbolic images, icons, objects, expressions and art, a way to tell a story and commemorate the celebration of life. This is a great opportunity to remember and pay tribute to the pieces of history in one¹s life.

Call for Altars: Artists and community members are invited to participate. Altars can be made by individuals or groups. If you are interested in participating, you must notify us by September 21st.
