    How Were Nachos Invented?

Well apparently nachos actually haven't been around as long as one might think. I found a couple theories on the origin of nachos. The first one comes from The Wall Street Journal and The San Antonio Express News.

These two newspapers postulate nachos were developed in 1943 in Piedras Negras, Mexico. According to the tale, a group of American military wives visited Piedras Negras for the day. They ended up at the Victory Club where they asked for food and drink.

According to the story, there was only 1 employee present at the club that day, Ignacio "Nacho" Anaya. Having no food to speak of in the Club, "Nacho" decided to improvise with some tortilla chips he grabbed off the bar. He melted some cheese from the kitchen on them, and topped them with a jalapeno.

The second theory, is that nachos were first served at the 1964 Dallas State Fair of Texas.

Either way, nachos are fantastic. I like mine all the way with everything, including jalapenos.
