A Latina in Berlin. Would make a great blog or novel I think.  Sandwich de Pernil?  Never heard of it.  See! just goes to show the difference between somebody growing up in Texas where we have few Cubanos. 

I think in El Paso too, they have alot of influence so it's alot New-Mexico Mex....but still Texan influenced 4 sure.  LOVE tex mex.

And yes, I go to Mexico, and it is so funny because I haven't heard of half the dishes. And even though si hablo espanol, I can barely read the menu cuz I don't know what all those spices and cuts of meet and vegetables are..  And yes, me enchile (sp?) when I was down there. it was so bad I still remember 10 years later.  The waiters at the restaurant brought me milk, then somebody told me to put salt in my mouth, then another restaurant customer said to drink coffee to scald it out.    Oh it was a mess, I spent the rest of the evening sick as a DOG.  Whew!
