Piloto Mujer: Doble triunfo para Alexandra Mohnhaupt en Cuernavaca

“Mi siguiente compromiso de la Indy Lights es en la pista de Long Beach. Esta es una pista en la que ya he tenido la oportunidad de correr anteriormente y me gusta bastante. Desde la primera vez que llegué aquí, el trazado me encantó”, comentó García Sámano, a quien le hace mucha ilusión regresar al circuito californiano.
“Es muy importante calificar bien, ya que te facilita poder terminar en una mejor posición -aunque no es garantía. Sobre todo si se toma en cuenta que en las carreras pasadas no hubo banderas amarillas y además en Long Beach no hay muchos lugares para rebasar. Asimismo, casi todo el contingente está rodando con tiempos muy similares y remontar posiciones se complica más bajo estas condiciones. Aquí sólo nos queda aprovechar algún error del piloto de adelante para escalar posiciones”, señaló.
Sobre las carreras anteriores dijo que si bien fueron difíciles, piensa que ésta no será la excepción. “Pero voy muy contento, es una de mis pistas preferidas en la temporada y me deja muy tranquilo el saber que vengo de una buena actuación a pesar de lo sucedido con la penalización. Además, viene un grupo de mi patrocinador International y espero brindarles un buen resultado”, añadió.
Y comentó: “Esta es una pista callejera que tiene dos zonas que me gustan mucho. La primera es entre las Curvas 2 y 3 en la glorieta, ahí entras con mucha velocidad a la curva, frenando para dar vuelta a la glorieta a la derecha, lo cual es muy padre y la otra parte que es de mis favoritas, es la curva que está antes de la horquilla al final de la vuelta. Esa curva es muy rápida y nunca tienes un auto al cien por ciento en el balance, ya que a veces estás acelerando y en otras ocasiones estás frenando. Además, es una curva muy larga y no puedes mantener una velocidad constante”.
“De todos modos me encuentro muy emocionado por poder regresar a Long Beach, sobre todo porque hay muchos mexicanos. Yo creo que va a ser un evento muy bonito para toda la gente”, puntualizó.
“Llegué este jueves a la pista para caminarla con mis ingenieros y también para comentar los cambios que vamos a hacer para la calificación. Tengo la confianza de que este fin de semana va a ser muy bueno”, adelantó el piloto.
Además, el fin de semana de carreras inicia este jueves con un evento especial en el que se presentarán al ‘Walk of Fame’ de Long Beach a los pilotos Paul Tracy y Adrián Fernández. “Yo estaré ahí acompañándolos y es un gran honor tener la oportunidad de convivir con dos estrellas del automovilismo como lo son ellos. Asimismo, es un orgullo que a un compatriota se le honre de esta manera”, concluyó Juan Pablo.
Las acciones en pista comenzarán el viernes (19 de abril) de las 11:15 a.m. a las 12:15 p.m. con el primer entrenamiento. El sábado (20 de abril), se llevará a cabo la segunda práctica de 7:30 a.m. a 9:15 a.m. y la calificación tendrá lugar a las 11:55 a.m. con 45 minutos de duración.
La carrera Firestone Indy Lights Long Beach 100 se disputará el domingo 21 de abril a las 12:15 horas, a una distancia de 45 vueltas (142.493 Km. - 88.6 millas) y se transmitirá en vivo por IMS Radio Network (Sirus 211/XM 211) y por www.indycar.com. También se transmitirá por televisión el mismo día en forma diferida a las 2 p.m. por NBC Sports Network y en Latinoamérica se televisará por ESPN en un horario por anunciar (Nota: Toda la programación en hora del centro de México).

On April 13, 2013 Daniel “The Pit” Pineda will take on Justin “The American Kid” Lawrence at the Ultimate Fighter Finale in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is a UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) bout. Daniel is the first Hispanic UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) Featherweight to come from Houston, Texas.

NBA Pays Tribute to Hispanics with "Noche Latina" Games (Schedule Included)
February 28, 2013: The National Basketball Association (NBA) today announced this season’s Noche Latina (Latin Night) program of 15 games, six of which will air on national television on ABC, TNT, ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and NBA TV. These commemorative games celebrate the growing support of NBA fans and players across Latin American and U.S. Hispanic communities and feature special telecasts and in-arena festivities, including distinctive NBA team uniforms.
This year, Noche Latina celebrations will begin on March 2 and take place in Los Angeles (Lakers), Miami (Heat), Orlando (Magic), Phoenix (Suns), San Antonio (Spurs), Chicago (Bulls), and New York (Knicks).
“The Noche Latina program is the perfect example of the NBA’s ongoing commitment to celebrate diversity as part of the fabric of our game,” said NBA Vice President of Multicultural Marketing Saskia Sorrosa. “This month long celebration will bring the excitement of the NBA to Hispanic fans in ways that are culturally relevant.”
To further honor Hispanic fans and players during Noche Latina games, participating teams will host in-arena Latin-themed activities including musical performances and giveaways. As the league’s marquee program under the éne•bé•a platform, Noche Latina events will also be supported with television and radio advertising on both English- and Spanish-language media across the country as well as on the league’s Spanish-language Web site, enebea.com, and social media pages.
Launched during the 2006-07 NBA season, Noche Latina features adidas-designed uniforms that display team names as spoken by the bicultural, bilingual Latino population and Spanish-language TV and radio announcers. The Miami Heat, for example, is “El Heat,” and the San Antonio Spurs are referred to as “Los Spurs.”
Noche Latina merchandise,including game jerseys produced by adidas, will be available at NBAStore.com, the NBA Store on Fifth Avenue in New York City, and at in-arena stores for participating teams.
