That is to say, she's joining the telenovela within the show.  You know, the one that plays in the tv in the background on a tv set occasionally during the show.  The novela episode within Ugly Betty staring Luz Elena Gonzalez, also ...

Are you kidding?  I used to watch them all the time when I was younger.  (I don't have a tv now).  but I remember going to high school, and they had that one novela Thalia got famous in...the ''Rosalinda'' one. Those things are SO addictive.  But Ugly Betty used to be a novela on Spanish tv!
