Hispanic.com: Your Credit Reports

Credit Reports$

Guess what!  You can order a free copy of your credit report once a year from each of the three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.  You just have to request it from them.  This is great, because they can let you keep track of your credit score and track any unauthorized usages of your credit, such as identity theft.

The Federal Trade Commission says that a credit report includes information on where you live, how you pay your bills, and whether you've been sued or arrested, or have filed for bankruptcy.  Nationwide consumer reporting companies sell the information in your report to creditors, insurers, employers, and other businesses.  This is how your applications for credit, insurance, employment, or renting a home are evaluated.

So What's the Best Way to Order Your Free Credit Report?

Well, the three major credit bureaus have set up a centralized place where you can go to order your free credit reports.  Remember, it is FREE.  Visit annualcreditreport.com, call 1-877-322-8228.

Be CarefulWhoa- by Sue R B

Only annualcreditreport.com is authorized to fill orders for the free credit reports the law entitles you to.  Other sites may call themselves free, yet require you to pay a fee later on.  Some may have free in the name, try to sell you something, or direct you to other sites which try to collect personal information from you.

The Federal Trade Commission says annualcreditreport.com will not send you e-mails asking for personal information.  If you receive e-mails, phone calls, chat requests etc. from anyone claiming to be from annualcreditreport.com do not reply.  Forward such e-mails to the Federal Trade Commission at spam@uce.gov.

What Do You Need to Provide to Get Your Credit Report?

At annualcreditreport.com you will have to provide the following:

·         Name

·         Address

·         Social Security

·         Date of Birth

·         Address

·         You may get asked some additional information only you would know…such as the monthly amount of your phone bill etc.
