Hispanic Population
According to official 2007 U. S. census numbers, Hispanics make up approximately
15% of the US population. That's approximately 45,000,000 Hispanics officially counted as living in the US. As of 2007 the US had a population of approximately 300,000,000. It is important to remember though, the census may not count all undocumented Hispanics living in the United States, which could bring the number of Hispanics in the US as high as approximately 20% of the US population. (Internet estimates show there may be over 12 million undocumented Hispanic immigrants in the US.) According to the U.S. Census, there are more Hispanics living in the United States than the total population of Canada (pop. 32,000,000).
The Hispanic population residing in the United States has doubled since 1980, and is expected to eclipse current numbers as Hispanics are predicted to continue as the largest minority in the United States and consist of 30% of the US population in 2050. The rate of Hispanic growth is expected to grow at approximately 1.7 million Hispanics a year according to Census estimates.
2007 census numbers show there are approximately 40 million African Americans living in the United States.
States with Minority As the Majority
There are five states in the United States the U.S. Census estimates to have a minority as the majority population. These include, Hawaii-75% minority, California-57% minority, New Mexico-57% minority, Texas-52% minority, and Washington, DC-68% minority.
States with the Largest Minority Population
California and Texas are the two states with the largest minority population in the United States according to Census estimates. California-20.7 million and Texas-12.2 million.
States with the Largest Hispanic Population
Census estimates show the following states have the largest Hispanic population in the United States. California-13.1 million, Texas-8.4 million, Florida-3.6 million.
States with At Least Half a Million Hispanic Residents
Hispanics live in every US state, and following are states which have at least half a million Hispanic residents. Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, and Washington.
US County with the Largest Hispanic Population
U.S. Census estimates show Los Angeles County to have the largest Hispanic population of any county in the United States at 4.6 million Hispanics.
Average Age of Population
The average age of the general US population is 36.4 years old. And the average age of the Hispanic US population is 27.4 years old.

Hispanic youths account for 34% of the US Hispanic population according to Census estimates. Hispanic youth account for 18% of the total US population. 22% of the US population under five years old, is Hispanic.
