1) Buy your ticket

-Get an international student ID card. Oftentimes, these can help you get discounts at museums, train stations, or other venues.
2) Pack
-Remember you are packing for six months to a year. So don't take those flashy pants, or that dress that you only wear once a year. Take items which, you know you'll be able to wear again and again. Keep in mind, you will be carrying a suitcase-no one else, so be careful how much you pack. You will always buy items when studying abroad, so be sure to leave room for those when you come home, or else you'll end up paying severe airline overages for excess baggage.

Just from talking to folks who have been studying abroad, it seems the best way to get money and avoid carrying too much of it with you is by using an ATM card. There will be a minimal fee to withdraw money at international ATMs, however, it is worth it.
4) Have Fun
-Keep an open mind and remember it yearning you culture to enjoy new things. Some things may be different, but embrace them… you'll be going back to your life in the US soon enough.
